AND I taught him never to just stand by if someone else was being bullied. More than once the school suspending him for fighting. When I'd ask why, it would turn out he was defending some kid being picked on. After all, if your earliest childhood experiences are of being legally forced to go to a government education-center among strangers, regardless of how your rights are violated there, then clearly you're learning that individual rights really don't matter that much, and you're just supposed to tolerate any abuse that comes along, and "get used to it--" and feel indifferent or superior to anyone who complains. So basically, bullying is simply the end-product of a long-running political cause, and the best solution is for victims to take the matter to court immediately, since otherwise the schools won't do anything, since they know that they've got the kids basically as prisoners with no rights. Students have to learn that schools and faculty are NOT their friends, but their JAILERS- and schools ARE jails of a sort... for those who committed no crime. I got bullied last week by a bunch of morons in a tenth-grade class. They were throwing pieces of chalk at me while I was trying to conduct a lesson, and while their serious classmates were trying to learn something. They only threw things when my back was turned, but I could see the ones who found it funny. Their names have been reported to the vice principal at my school, who in turn will inform their parents about what happened. Bullying in schools is the main reason why I oppose compulsory school attendance, a root cause of bullying. Bullies are ignorant and typically don't care about what's being taught in school and thus won't learn anything. Compulsory attendance therefore really has nothing good going for it. It has one major strike against it, though, namely that bullies involuntarily kept there in the classroom disrupt the classroom environment and interfere with the learning of those who go to school to actually learn something.
