Revisiting Kick a Ginger Day
Monday, 22 November 2010 17:25

There is still lots of emotion around “kick a Ginger” day, with many orange haired kids and young adults reporting acts of violence and ridicule targeted at them.  If we think back, all of this emerged out of a South Park episode.  If you google “Kick a Ginger”, a long winded Wikipedia explanation is available explaining the story line from the South Park episode and confessing that the intended outfall was not supposed to target anyone.

But Really?  With the popularity and accessibility of Facebook and other social networking sites it is so easy to choose any day and give it some fancy name.  The fact that so many people were negatively affected by “Kick a Ginger” day is a testament to the power of South Park, Facebook and other media giants who have 24/7 access to those on line.

And it’s also a testament to how gullible we are, and how easily we are led to acts of violence as entertainment, all at the expense of another.  Sad, really, isn’t it?

I think more and more we are being asked to provide our own information filters to the masses of data we can access thorough the internet, but how do young kids develop those filters without first having the life skills necessary?   It used to be when you looked something up in an encyclopaedia, or a national geographic, or heard it on the news, the reliability factor was considered to be high.  For example, people generally believe the weather forecast that they hear providing it falls within normal expectations for the time and place, but may check several weather sources if some weather anomaly is reported.  It is hard to filter out truth from fantasy from fabrication.  South Park writers maintain that anybody who watched the “Kick a Ginger” episode would have understood the message.  However understanding the message requires a person to get all the information, and just to hear “It’s Kick a Ginger” day” gets some all excited about the chance to ridicule another.

As a general rule, internet consumers should, by design, ignore, pass over, delete or otherwise dismiss ANY reference to ANY violent act for celebration as wrong – an idea not meant to be.  The implications for escalating violence are scary when we think of the impact this day had.

Bullies are really dumb, dumb enough to believe what television says.....
Seriously, South Park is FICTIONAL, meaning that it's not real, bullies are really dumb enough to believe that whatever TV says is true, on the show, they said that "Gingers have no souls", the phrase is false, yet the bullies think it's true, they actually BELIEVE that gingers do not have souls, all human beings have souls, no matter what their skin or hair color is, what idiots they are.....

It's even WORSE on the internet, they tend to have an obsession with the show and bully any ginger that uses the internet, and yet the bullies have the nerve to think it's hillarious, it's not, it's hurtful, they have even gone as far as hacking their YouTube accounts (which is downright illegal) and posting hateful videos about redheads, they have no idea that it's fictional, then again, the South Park fanbase has become very cult-like treating the show like it's the bible, and going as far as denying the existence of God, and instead, they WORSHIP the shows creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker instead, the fans actually said "If you don't worship Stone and Parker, you are not a South Park fan" and if you are a South Park fan and dare worship God, let alone read the Bible, the fanbase can get really vicious and very very VERY violent, that's not a fanbase, that's a CULT, and cults are basically religions who like to shove thir ideas down peoples throats, and if that person does not agree, the cultists resort to violence and often illegal means to get their ways, Scientology being a prime example of a cult. Seriously, when will they learn that South Park is not real, apparently, they never learn

I hate South Park not just because of it's extreme vulgarity, but because of it's idiotic fanbase who is stupid enough to actually believe that everything that is said and happens on the show is allegedly true, what idiots they are.....

I really hope to God that this ginger-hating stops, it's just ridiculous and unreasonable and just plain stupid
