So now it's "Kick A Ginger" day. Because I have been reading the articles in the Globe, the Vancouver Sun, and looking at other comments pages, I am saddened to see that a group of people who are defined by their hair colour are being targeted for violence. Some say that the media is to be blammed, so bann SOuth PArk and other such programs. Others say that cartoons like SOuth PArk are designed to teach us moral lessons. At the end of the day, I end up asking myself, "What needs to happen in the world so that we don't have to hear that kids have had to defend themsleves because someone thought it was a joke to "kick a ginger"? What needs to happen in the world to be sure that we never hear about people who were unable to distinguish between a "joke" and a criminal act of assualt or violence against another?" How do we get to the place where people know the difference between right and wrong and do the right thing,even when no one is watching? I welcome your responses.

Really?! Really your all going to blame south park? when does the responsability fall onto the parents. At the beginning of EVERY south park episode it clearly says not for children under 18! So the fact that every one is blaming a tv show that was created for adults, because parents nowadays cant be held responsible for preventing their children from watching a program that is designed for people who know the difference between a comedic situation, and something to idolize, is absolutely disgusting. Really? I read about this in the paper on the subway a few weeks ago and it seems to me to be another example of poor judgement and the inability of children to distinguish between right and wrong. This goes back to a lack of proper parenting as this is both an ethical issue and will become a legal issue. I will never understand why kids take make believe things from TV and try to make them real. Why are the parents not sitting their children down and explaining to them that South Park is made up and not to be taken literally. There are so many adult cartoons on TV that parents need to be the ones to decide what is appropriate for their children to watch. Be more involved parents! |

Ging is my friend! One of my best friends is called Ging or Ginger (real name Matt). This is considered by him now as a term of endearement and does not upset him in the slightest. He has also been referred to as Ginghis Kahn, Ginger Runny Poo, Ging Soloman, Red Sonya, Ging the Mercyless, Ging Gang Gooly, Ging of the Hill etc. He is by far the most popular person in the group and has a very pretty blonde girlfriend. butters i think south park has the right to express free speech they have done this to many different groups right now kids are just obsessed with this ginger fad the south park episode was about 2006 i think and most people just forgot about it but i saw this one kid on utube who just got angry at south park about gingers and the ginger fad jump right back up im sure it will die down soon but until then parents and teachers have to watch kids and try and prevent bullying |

Mislead I think it is pretty sad when people decided that hair color is now a disability. Please tell me how someone is disabled physically or any other way due to hair color. Even worse, to call it a disease, and that coming from a ginger! I personally have no less talent, no less athletic ability and certainly no fewer brain cells because of my DNA. By the way, if being a ginger is so bad, why is it one of the two top colors women choose when dying their hair? |
